The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation announces the 23rd Annual Sounds of the Season featuring The Alleluia Orchestra and special guest artist, Buddy Mullins. Held on Sun. Dec. 16, there will be two performances, a 4:00 p.m. matinee and a 6:00 p.m. evening concert in the Destin Life Center at Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive.

“As the holiday season of giving unfolds, we embrace the generosity of our community that allows us to deliver impactful outreach programming to people of diverse backgrounds and abilities,” says Melanie Moore, Education Director, MKAF.

Buddy Mullins is best known as an outstanding vocal artist and was inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame for his time singing with the Grammy and Dove Award winning Gaither Vocal Band. He has travelled and sang his entire life with many gospel music greats such as Bill and Gloria Gaither, Clay Crosse, New Song, DC Talk, Newsboys, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Amy Grant, as well as performing on well known youth author and speaker, Josh McDowell’s “Right from Wrong” tour and the Billy Graham Crusade. He is also a songwriter and musician and has had several number one songs on the charts such as “It’s Still the Cross” and “Promises One by One.”

Together for 12 years, The Alleluia Orchestra is made up of professional and semi-professional players from Pensacola, Destin, Panama City Beach, as well as members from Alabama. Advanced students have also been invited to play the last several years. The orchestra is well-received in the Destin area as they have presented Christmas, Easter, and Patriotic musicals.

Sounds of the Season would not be possible without the following church collaborations: Destin Assembly of God, Destin United Methodist Church and Village Baptist Church. Admission is a donation of a new unwrapped child’s toy to be distributed among the participating church’s outreach ministries to provide a brighter Christmas for families in need during the holidays. A portion of this year’s toy donations will benefit children and families impacted by Hurricane Michael. A love offering at intermission will benefit the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s community outreach initiatives benefiting students, adults and children with special needs, at-risk youth and wounded warriors with visible and invisible injuries in Okaloosa and Walton counties.
