For more than 60 years, generations of visitors have made memories at the Sea Oats Motel, one of only two lodging properties located directly on the beach in Destin. This summer, guests will have a final opportunity to experience the iconic beachfront motel in its current form before a major renovation and rebranding project begins later this year.
Now under the management of Dallas-based RREAF Holdings, the 46-room property is expected to begin accepting reservations by July 7, 2026, for what will be its final season before renovations get underway following the peak summer season.
Originally opened in 1964, Sea Oats has long been known for its laid-back atmosphere, beachfront location and authentic Old Destin charm. Planned improvements will modernize guestrooms, add new accommodations and introduce a refreshed brand identity while preserving the character that has made the property a favorite among generations of visitors.
According to RREAF Holdings, the renovation will be designed to honor Sea Oats’ history while enhancing the guest experience for years to come. The company has also committed to retaining the motel’s on-site team and the personalized service that has helped define the property for decades.
For longtime guests and locals alike, this summer offers a chance to revisit a true Destin landmark before it begins its next chapter.
