Mackenzie Brundage, daughter of Christopher and Kim Brundage, was named Distinguished Young Woman of Walton County, and was awarded $1,500 in college scholarships, plus an additional $500 tuition scholarship to Northwest Florida State College. Brundage is currently a student at South Walton High School, and plans to attend The University of Florida or Auburn University. Brundage performed “The Night We Met” on guitar, and was the overall winner for a talent $200 scholarship, fitness $100 scholarship, interview $100 scholarship and scholastics $200 scholarship. She received a $800 cash scholarship as the winner of Distinguished Young Woman of Walton County. She will now represent Walton County at the state program in Destin, Florida on Feb 24, 2018.
Mackenzie Reid, daughter of Roger and April Reid, also won $100 in the self expression category and a $700 scholarship when she was named 1stRunner Up to Distinguished Young Woman of Walton County. Reid also was awarded a $500 tuition scholarship to Northwest Florida State College. Reid currently attends Seacoast Collegiate High School and plans to attend Florida State University.
Emcee for the evening was Peyton LoCicero, reporter for ABC affiliate, WMBB News 13. Chief scholarship donors included: Proffitt PR, Walton Area Chamber of Commerce, Florida Public Relations Association Northwest Florida chapter, Brotula’s, Alys Beach Foundation, Smileology, and 30A.
Upcoming high school juniors who are interested in participating in next year’s program can register now. Girls must be legal residents of the United States and Florida and live in Walton County.
