Scot has represented numerous individuals, lenders, business entities, and insurance companies in a broad range of litigation and transactional matters for almost twenty years. He regularly litigates business, contract, and real estate disputes. Additionally, Scot maintains a transactional real estate and business law practice, focusing on commercial and residential closings, contract preparation and negotiation, and title disputes. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate Attorney. Scot holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Virginia. Before joining Emmanuel Sheppard & Condon in late 2015, Scot was a shareholder at two established north Florida law firms. Scot is currently an authorized agent for Attorneys Title Insurance Fund, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, Fidelity Title Insurance Company, Chicago Title Insurance Company, Inc., and Westcor Land Title Insurance Company. Scot is an active member of the UVA Jefferson Scholars Foundation Regional Selection Committee and the South Walton Rotary Club, where he currently serves as Sergeant at Arms. Scot is married to Katy Copeland, and they have a son named Jack.
Van Geeker is a tax attorney with over thirty-five years of experience in matters concerning federal and state taxation, wills, trusts and estates, and corporate law. He represents clients regularly with IRS tax controversies and also works in the areas of tax exempt organizations and employee benefits. Van holds a Master of Tax Law (LL.M.) degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary, in addition to his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from the Florida State University College of Law and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University. Van has an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Van served as an Adjunct Professor of Tax Law at the Florida State University College of Law from 1996 to 2003 and is a former member of the Executive Council, Tax Section, of The Florida Bar. He is a current member of The Florida Bar (1979) and the United States Tax Court (1981). Van is married to Cindy Geeker, and they have three adult children who love to visit South Walton County.
