Kudos to Coach Nick Borthwick and the entire South Walton High School Baseball team for reaching the Division 1A State semifinals. The Seahawks finished 23-7 after a tough 4-3 loss to the Madison County Cowboys on Wednesday May 24th in Fort Myers. It was the first time in school history the team made the trip to the State Final Four. “It was a tough way to end the season,” Coach Borthwick said after the loss to Madison County, “but we made it to Fort Myers and played hard. I’m just proud of them and proud of the entire team and community.”  “These young men at South Walton High School have worked hard over the last several years to get to this point. They’ve earned everything that they’ve won. I couldn’t be more proud of them and their success”, the coach said.

The team began the season with nine returning seniors from last season’s 18-12 club and by all accounts the young men bonded into a tight unit both on and off the field. “We’ve made this a goal the last three years. It’s the result of tireless hours in the weight room and working hard all year round. It’s very rewarding for these nine seniors who have committed their high school careers to baseball, and  they are now achieving their dreams.”
