Each month, A2Z Specialty Advertising Inc. includes a story from someone who has worked alongside Gabby Bruce, so you can see the kind of impact he had and continues to have in our community!
“From the business perspective, you could count on Gabby to deliver his products on time and at a fair price. But he was more than a businessman—he was a great colleague and friend whom I had known from his early days in radio. He volunteered at several Chambers of Commerce and always had a smile and a hug for the many friends he made in the community,” said Sherry Harlow, APR retired Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Eglin Federal Credit Union.
This is our 10th award with two more to go in 2022. We choose the award based on nominations through A2Z commercials on Cumulus Radio. We seek nominations for an organization who makes an impact by their generosity and personifies Gabby’s giving back to our community.
We’re honored to announce this month’s winner of the “Gabby Bruce You Make A Difference” award—The Emerald Coast Foundation (ECF), an organization Gabby was part of for many years.
The strength of the Emerald Coast Foundation is its ability to achieve its mission: ECF is committed to “Investing in Youth” in Northwest Florida. This capacity is encapsulated in several fund-raising activities that take place throughout the calendar year. The largest is the Emerald Coast Poker Run, held annually in August.
This tremendous event, hosted by ECF, is one of the largest boat poker runs in the country. ECF is the only not-for-profit organization that puts forth such effort, for the sole purpose of expanding its charitable reward and helping our most precious resource: the children of our community. Some of the charities include: The All-Star Sports Association, The Eleanor J Johnson Youth Center, The Arc of the Emerald Coast, Children In Crisis, Inc. and Fresh Start for Children and Families.
Through sponsorships from individuals, businesses and large corporations, ECF can bring together many levels of support. When you support ECF, you directly help these youth organizations provide much needed service. We hope this award will help make a difference.
