Pharmaceutical compounding allows for your medical provider to offer specialized treatment. At Emerald Coast Compounding Pharmacy (ECCP) compounded medications are made from “scratch” and use raw individual ingredients that are compounded to meet the patient’s individual needs.  Unique aspects of compounded medications are: the specific strength of the drugs, dosage forms (such as capsules, liquid, oils, creams/gels, troches, lollipops, suppositories), and the ability to exclude ingredients from medications due to patient allergies or other sensitivities.

ECCP building

Compounding is the origin of pharmacy.  It was not until the 1950’s that compounding pharmacies rapidly declined due to the advent of mass drug manufacturing.  With the decline of compounding pharmaceuticals also came the decline of getting to know you pharmacist. Personalized medication allows for a triage relationship of the Patient, Physician, and Pharmacist. Regina Jaquess, PharmD recognizes the importance of knowing a patient’s medical history and current symptoms to allow her to properly formulate prescriptions prescribed by the patient’s medical provider. Over the past years, Regina has established an ongoing relationship with many of the doctors and other outstanding medical practitioners that serve this area.

The need for compounding is endless. There are patients that have trouble swallowing capsules; ECCP can formulate the medication into a different dosage form such as a flavored liquid to make the medication easier to take. What about pets, who are stubborn when it comes to taking their medication? At ECCP compounded transdermal gels for cats are administered onto the tip of the ear (pinna) for best absorption.

HORMONE AND THYROID REPLACEMENT THERAPY

Tired? Suffering from unexplained weight gain? Are you in a mental fog? This is not just a part of life; these are signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalance usually is due to a series of hormone imbalances rather than just one hormone out of synch. Hormone Replacement Therapy is meant to aid in balancing your hormone levels, allowing you to feel at your prime day and night. Bio-identical hormones can be compounded without the side effect profile that comes along with the use of synthetic hormones. Bio-identical hormones can be used for treating osteoporosis, menopause, andropause, adrenal fatigue, decreased libido, etc.

In addition to bio-identical hormones, ECCP also specializes in thyroid replacement therapy. At ECCP we can manage each patient’s exact dosage amount needed to get thyroid levels accurate.

DERMATOLOGY

Working close with dermatologist, plastic surgeons, and other skin care professionals allows ECCP to customize medications for all skin conditions such as: Psoriasis, Eczema, Skin Cancers, Severe Acne, Rosacea, Alopecia, Warts and Scars.

Melasma is a condition that causes dark spots usually on the face. Treatment consists of a medication prescribed by your dermatologist called, Triluma. Triluma can be compounded at ECCP which helps to alleviate those unwanted dark spots.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Pain is something that slows down everyday life. Many commercially available pain medications have harsh side effects and the potential for abuse and addiction. Customizing your pain medications will lead to controlled pain management with fewer side effects and less potential for addiction.
