There’s more to a community than pretty houses, nice landscaping, nightlife, or abundant retail. Members of H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Every Animal Regain Tomorrow) believe that the soul of a community is shown through caring not only for the community’s citizens, but for all members of the community’s families.
From Panama City to Navarre up into Defuniak Springs and beyond, H.E.A.R.T. makes the Emerald Coast richer. This 501(c)3 Non-Profit Animal Rescue Organization aids families in need.
H.E.A.R.T. is dedicated to caring for pets by increasing community awareness, animal fostering, and caring for companionship animals until loving homes can be found for them.
H.E.A.R.T. is run by a small group of individuals who generously volunteer their time, homes, and hearts to this important cause. With temporary assistance from H.E.A.R.T., many animals remain in their current homes instead of being admitted to animal shelters.
Food and medical services for pets are made available to approved and responsible low-income families, senior citizens on fixed incomes, and families dealing with illnesses where resources are limited.
H.E.A.R.T. provides low cost spay and neutering for the purpose of reducing unwanted births and unfortunate deaths of animal offspring. This common practice helps to increase the worth of the community.
Available financial assistance is provided to responsible pet owners who wish to spay or neuter their pet but cannot afford to do so.
The organization works with area shelters and rescues to assist with transport, food, and fostering. “We are currently in need of fosters so we can save more lives” states Kathleen Ruffel. Foster application, as well as adoption applications, can be found on the website: www.heartanimalrescue.org. H.E.A.R.T.’s adoptable animals are listed on PetFinder.com. The pets can also be seen on the company Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HEARTAnimalRescue/. Social media is a powerful tool for this organization; every share or like could potentially save a life!
