Gobble Till You Wobble Without Dirtying a Pan: South Walton restaurants offering Thanksgiving meal options

By Michelle Farnham

Whether you’ll work up an appetite running the 30A Thanksgiving Day 10K, or have a more relaxed schedule planned, the restaurateurs of South Walton are offering a cornucopia of Thanksgiving meal options. Spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying friends, family and the natural beauty of the gulf.

Chef Nikhil Abuvala of Roux 30a is delivering a traditional Thanksgiving meal with his own seaside inspired modern spin. The star of the meal is a 14- to 16-pound all-natural Joyce Farms turkey – enough to feed 10 to 12 people. Alongside the bird comes a choice of homestyle thyme or oyster stuffing, cranberry chutney, gravy, bread, mashed potatoes and a squash medley. Home delivery within the Santa Rosa Beach area is included in the $350 price tag; additional sides and desserts (a chocolate-pecan or pumpkin pie, or bread pudding) are also available. Abuvala recommends orders be placed “the earlier the better” by phone at 850-213-0899 or by email at rachael@roux30a.com.

Located at 30Avenue in Inlet Beach, Chef Kevin Korman of Roselie Dining & Seafood Bar is whipping up a Thanksgiving-To-Go special. Designed to feed four people, choose an appetizer, entree, three sides and a dessert for $135. Notable items on the menu include the apple-brined and roasted turkey breast, the smoky mustard glazed ham and the autumn squash bisque. Finish the meal with your choice of pumpkin and white chocolate bread pudding with a bourbon anglaise, or the pecan and dark chocolate pie with spiced whipped cream. Pick-up is Wednesday, Nov. 23; view the complete menu or place an order online  or call 850-909-0400 by Friday, Nov. 18.

Over at Vue on 30A, Chef Giovanni Filippone is serving his annual Thanksgiving Day brunch, which is expected to sell out! Offered from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the kitchen is dishing up tradition with a dash of coastal cuisine. Meals cost $49.95 for adults, $15.95 for kids 6 to 12, and children 5 and under eat gratis. Call 850-267-2305 to RSVP.

Those visiting Marie’s Bistro on Thanksgiving Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. can choose between the buffet or a special holiday menu. At $28 for adults, $12 for children ages 4 to 12, the buffet includes a citrus herb roasted turkey, honey glazed bourbon ham, and all the traditional trimmings with a few coastal options mixed in. Items like jumbo shrimp cocktail, fresh mussels and smoked tuna dip add some seafood to the more customary fare. Alternatively, a selection of complete meals, appetizers, ham or turkey entrees, and seven desserts can be carried out if ordered by Nov. 21. Pick-up is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 23; or 10 a.m. to noon on Thanksgiving Day. Phone 850-278-6856 for complete details.

If your holiday table needs an expertly cooked bird – or perhaps the full spread – 98 Bar-B-Que will be busy in the kitchen filling orders. Owner Jon Seeling said the restaurant will offer turkey hens (10 to 12 pounds for 6 to 8 people, $45) and toms (21 to 25 pounds for 15 to 18 people, $75), either smoked or roasted, or get a fried hen for something a little different. To complete your meal, diners can choose from four sides and two desserts, all offered a la carte. Seeling will take orders through Nov. 19 at 850-622-0679, and the fully cooked food can be picked up the day before Thanksgiving.

Havana Beach Bar & Grill, located within The Pearl Hotel of Rosemary Beach, is open to guests and diners alike. The ballroom will host two seatings of a traditional Thanksgiving buffet at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with all the favorites. The main restaurant will be open as normal, but diners can opt for a special 3-course non-traditional Thanksgiving fixed menu from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Choices for the second course entree include roasted free range turkey with cornbread stuffing, sweet potatoes, haricot vert and pineapple cranberries; the New York strip; or the crusted grouper. Finish the meal with the sweet potato cheesecake, the pear crumb cake or the s’mores pie. The cost for all dining options is $60 for adults and $30 for children 12 and under. Maître d’ Quinn Duprey suggests reservations at 850-588-2882.
