Throughout this past year, I’ve written about the Destin Chamber’s Destin Forward 9-month class as a participant. You can read all about our many adventures in past issues of Destin Life at MyDestinLife.com. Getting to know this diverse group of young, “mature” and up and coming community leaders has been the most rewarding, as we’ve cultivated relationships, and we hope, made a difference in our community.

When COVID-19 caused us to quarantine, we were just on the verge of finalizing our class project—refurbishing the children’s playground at Henderson Beach State Park. Undaunted, however, we bided our time, continuing to order and gather equipment and supplies we would need for when the time came that we could use our hands and feet to rehabilitate and restore the important area of the Park —the children’s playground. Recently, we were given the go-ahead from the park ranger and did indeed complete our assignment. Through the Pins & Pancakes fundraiser held in the spring, we were able to meet the financial obligation as well. Thank you Destin Forward for a rewarding year and Destin community for your support!
