Long-term care is a vital part of the health care system. A career in long-term care is a great stepping stone for individuals who would like to get their foot in the door. During COVID, Florida implemented a program called “Personal Care Attendant” (PCA) which allows non-licensed health care workers to enter the health care workforce. Facilities offer in-house training and, after four months of employment, PCA’s are allowed to sit for the State CNA Licensure exam. This is a perfect way to enter the healthcare workforce, get paid for on the job training and be prepared to take the State Certified Nursing Exam.
