Designers of every ilk, be it fashion or home and interior, wait expectantly for Pantone’s annual release of its color of the year, anticipating the ways said color will influence trends on the runway and the real way. And while some in the know had an inkling that rich chocolate browns would be a wise wardrobe addition, those of us who don’t have a finger on the pulse might not have seen 2025’s color of the year coming. So, what exactly are we expecting to see in a big way this year? The answer might very well be staring back at you from over the rim of your coffee cup.
Tantalizingly called “Mocha Mousse,” Pantone’s color of the year for 2025 was chosen for very specific reasons. A mellow shade of brown, the color evokes a sense of comfort, intimacy and elegance while hinting at indulgence through its correlation to cacao, chocolate and coffee.
