Destin-based 501 C3, Trees On The Coast, recently helped 200 graduating fourth graders at Destin Elementary plant 15 Live Oaks, while Destin Mayor and Trees On The Coast CEO Bobby Wagner, along with TOC board members Rebekah Manley and Will Estell, gave the students a lesson on the benefits of practicing conservation and what trees mean to humans and our environment.
In the program, which took place May 19, TOC board members worked with students in digging the right depth holes to plant the trees, which the board members had unloaded from a large delivery truck and trailer earlier that morning, after digging the 15 holes for the six-foot-tall trees to be planted in.

Trees On The Coast was founded in 2015 and has been instrumental in procuring and planting more than 600 trees across Okaloosa and Walton counties. These trees are paid for by Trees On The Coast through fundraising efforts and donations and provided free of charge to the beach communities, schools, recreational facilities, cities and counties the Destin-based group serves.

The board, led by Mayor Wagner, consists of seven volunteer members who have all served in their capacities for a number of years, donating their time and resources to help beautify the beach communities they call home, while also helping to educate the next generation of conservationists about the importance of trees in our communities.
