A third generation local who grew up in the family business, Rick Scheel of Sundance Rental Management, Inc., knows a thing or two about Destin and Ft. Walton Beach, the beautiful place we call home. His grandfather, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force became a realtor in Ft. Walton Beach back in the 50’s. He soon started accumulating a lot of rental inventory because so many of his clients were active military and were being reassigned. His daughter Pam, Rick’s mother, took over the rental business in the 70’s and met his dad several years later, who was a local contractor and maintenance man. So, Rick and his sister grew up in the family’s long term rental business. Rick started at the very bottom doing maintenance and painting even while enrolled in college, coming back home to work on the weekends.
Fast forward to today—Sundance Rentals has more than 2,000 long term rentals stretching from Ft. Walton to Panama City Beach, Niceville, Crestview, Navarre and Destin. They have eight property managers who are in charge of around 250 properties each. With a local office in Destin, Rick says, “We can better serve our clients in the Destin area.” When asked what sets Sundance Rentals apart from other rental companies, Rick says, “Long term rentals is all we do, and we’ve been doing it for more than 40 years.” He goes on to say, “Whenever someone calls us, your phone call is taken by a live person 24/7.” In today’s day and age, that’s pretty nice considering all the automation out there. And others must agree, for Sundance Rentals has gained such accolades as Best in Destin 2019 and Finest on the Emerald Coast for 2017, 2018, and 2019. Rick says all of this would not be possible without the amazing support staff his company has in Ft. Walton Beach, at their headquarters.
