Northwest Florida Ballet performs Giselle in Grand Park at Sandestin’s Grand Boulevard on Oct. 14

The Northwest Florida Ballet (NFB) will stage a free outdoor performance of Giselle on Sat., Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. in Grand Park at Sandestin’s Grand Boulevard. The production is presented as part of Grand Boulevard’s Coastal Culture Series, made possible by the Grand Boulevard Arts & Entertainment Program.

Giselle, one of the oldest continually performed ballets dating back to Paris in 1841, is staged by NFB Ballet Mistress Dorothy Daniels Lister with choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot and music by Adolphe Adam. This romantic ballet in two acts tells the story of a peasant girl who dies of a broken heart after discovering Albrecht, her lover, is betrothed to another.

Natalia Ashikhmina, current principal with the Louisville Ballet and former Russian National Ballet prima ballerina, will dance the title role and Darren McIntyre formerly with The Australian Ballet will dance the role of Albrecht.

 NFB demi soloist Jeffrey Senior will perform the role of Hilarion and NFB founder Bernadette Clements Sims will perform the role of Berthe. Additional members of the NFB Company will round out the cast and include Savannah Crabtree and Keegan Lloyd performing the popular Peasant Pas de Deux. Jeff Prescott will dance the role of Albrecht’s Squire Wilfred while Terry Prewitt will perform as Bathilde’s father, the Duke of Courland. Seleta Howard will dance the role of Albrecht’s fiancé Bathilde. NFB demi soloist Ellie Edwards will dance the captivating role of Myrtha.
