It’s been an eventful few months for the Emerald Coast Big Game Fishing Club (ECBGFC) here on the Emerald Coast. The newly founded club has had many successes in a short time frame. The 2nd Annual Billfish Extravaganza recently held at Harbor Docks was a huge success! Despite the wet and windy conditions, teams were able to weigh in a variety of great fish and we were honored to provide more than $50,000 in prize money.

What’s next from the ECBGFC? We’ve got two major events coming up: the Youth Tournament and Hit the Gulf. The Youth Tournament will give the young anglers in our community an opportunity to get their lines in the water July 29-30 at Harbor Docks. In August, Hit the Gulf will be a month-long tournament where teams can fish for two days of their choosing. It will be divided into private and charter boat divisions, so don’t miss out! Plus, every member will receive tickets to the Sportsman’s Ball on Sept. 16 at the Destin Fort Walton Beach Convention Center. It’s a night of fun and celebration with dinner, drinks, and dancing!

It’s not enough for ECBGFC just to go out and have a good time. We are focused on giving back to our communities and conserving our local waters. That’s why we are thrilled to be host for the ECBGFC Destin for Success fundraising event in August to raise money for scholarships to the top five winners of Okaloosa, Walton and Bay counties. Junior and senior students compete by submitting their marine artwork and meeting our qualifications. We are accepting both donations and item donations to make this event successful for our local youth.
ECBGFC is all about Community, Conservation and Giving Back. “We give back to the Destin High School Fishing Class and are honored to run the Destin High School Fishing Club, support students through our Destin for Success Scholarship Program, and support billfish conservation efforts,” says founder Crystal Lafosse.

With more than 300 members and counting, there is still time to join the club! Join online at www.ecbgfc.com or reach out to Crystal directly at ecbgfc@gmail.com. We would love to have you be a part of this organization.
