The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF), a not-for-profit charitable arts organization, blends art, music and nature for a one of a kind summer camp experience! The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center and Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation are joining forces to offer Nature Rocks. Made possible, in part, by Keith and Laura Howard, this is a two week-long immersive experience including hands-on drumming classes with renowned percussionist Zig Wajler of “Hands on with Zig,” theatre and creative writing with award-winning playwright and actress, Nancy Hasty; and dynamic hands-on nature activities featuring live animal ambassadors! A student showcase at the end of each week will feature African beats and a Lion King-style theatre performance for family and friends.
Rising 2nd through 8th graders are invited to register by visiting www.eowilsoncenter.org or www.mattiekellyartsfoundation.org. Two sessions are available, July 15th to 19th (1st Session) and July 22nd to 26th (2nd Session).
“The Biophilia center is an oasis of natural wonder, with an unparalleled staff. Magic is created with the addition of our nationally acclaimed artist facilitators, nurturing in each child a fun and immersive exploration of arts and nature,” Says Melanie Moore, MKAF Education Director.
“My kids have attended nature rocks for the past three years and will again for a fourth time this coming summer. EO Wilson Biophilia Center is an awesome facility for nature and MKAF’s music and theater program is top notch. It is by far the best camp in the area.” – Rand Fernandez, Parent and MKAF Member
