Today’s Boutique has opened in Destin Commons! And if you’re one of the boutique’s local, loyal followers, you might know owners, Destin locals and early pioneers of Destin’s fashion scene, Jim and Kim Dettle, have successfully run their business for 40 years! The new store provides a fresh space to better serve its loyal clientele, many of whom have shopped with them since their original opening in 1981 in the Harbor district of Destin.

The Dettles’ daughter, Kristin Dettle Humphrey, with a degree in fashion merchandising, is the store manager, carrying on the family business with her talented staff. Granddaughters Lucy and Audrey will be close behind. And if you’ve been by the store, Today’s official mascot, Dwight, is always there to greet you – the best dressed pup around!

Through the years, the Dettles have dedicated their careers to pleasing the ever-expanding number of diverse shoppers. Though trends have come and gone since 1981, Today’s Boutique has been helping women in our area (and online) find their own look through high-end brands and eclectic styles. “The fact that we’ve been in business for more than 40 years proves that our locally owned boutique is highly capable of staying current in the fashion world,” said Kim. “Whether casual or cocktail, we work hard to make sure we have the entire fashion spectrum covered. Brands like Clara Sun Woo give shoppers the perfect daytime casual outfit while brands like Joseph Ribkoff bring out the bling with their trendy cocktail attire!”

“We try to put a fresh spin on new combinations that really wow our customers; our goal is to keep them coming back for more through eye-catching clothing at reasonable prices,” said Jim.

“We offer top designers and our mission is to be every woman’s favorite store, helping each customer realize her full style fashion potential.”

The boutique operated its first location from 1981-2000 in the Harbor district of Destin, where Target and Hobby Lobby currently stand today. During this time, their two children, Jameson and Kristin, were born and they founded Destin Community Cares, an organization that mobilized numerous fundraisers to help local individuals and families who faced hardships.

In 2000, Today’s Boutique moved to The Shoppes of Paradise Key. For 22 years at this location, the store sponsored more than 200 fashion events and trunk shows within the store, including its annual anniversary party.

In 2017, they ruled the runway at Sinfonia’s Wine, Women & Shoes fashion show, with their stunning, colorful looks and iconic floral headpieces. They hosted numerous opportunities to give back to the community, including a clothing drive for Save the Closet, which generated 50-plus massive bags of gently used clothing donated by their clients to support those affected by Hurricane Michael. Jim has been honored as the Businessman of the Year by the Destin Chamber of Commerce and the Today’s Boutique booth has been the focal point for fun at the Destin Seafood Festival. Even through the uncertainty of the pandemic – a shutdown, supply chain delays and staffing challenges – this local boutique has continued to thrive due to the support of its loyal shoppers.

In its new location at Destin Commons, Today’s Boutique continues to offer the luxury brands for which they are known, but is also adding new ones. Voted “Best Boutique” on the Emerald Coast for 15 years and counting, “We select clothing brands that stand the test of time,” said Jim. “We carry stunning pieces for special events, non-wrinkle travel ware to take on trips, and an eclectic mix of comfy tops and bottoms.” You can even meet with a personal stylist. Just call for an appointment, and the team will help you find the best pieces based on your favorite colors, styles and brands.

Today’s also has a huge jewelry and handbag selection, hosts events and trunk shows and supports local causes such as Fore Her, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Shelter House, Children in Crisis and more.

“Fashion is so much fun. And though trends are always a moving target, we work to stay ahead of them and find the hottest trends for every fashionista that walks in our doors,” said Kim.
