We all have a journey in life. A mission, a path and a dream. But what determines if we get there? If we attain it? If we succeed? What does getting there even mean?
A wise friend asked me, what do you want to do when you grow up? The real question is, “What’s growing up?” Are we not always growing, changing, moving -transforming? The traditional notion of “growing up” can be a superficial cliché. More and more I can feel the unravelling of old ways of thinking. We are connecting more to our inner truth and valuing what we feel and sense there.
It’s still very easy at times to get caught in the “rat race” everyone talks about. Stop and take a few pauses and remember who you are as you rush to work, get the kids ready and out the door to school, as you deal with clients etc. You are a being that has a purpose beyond your daily schedule. We try so hard to live up to the world’s expectations, but the world doesn’t need to set our expectations –we do. We are the ones that ultimately impose these expectations on ourselves and in doing so we cage ourselves in.
If you are happy and following your inner guidance and shining your light, then breathe that life into others around you. We all need to believe in the power that we are, and that someone even if it just one person believes in us and will support us. I believe in you. I support you. Go into your heart, feel your intuition and ask what it wants you to do. Dream…what ignites your soul? What makes you smile when you think about it? Go and do some of that. If you don’t know how or where to start, go within and ask. You will receive guidance. It may take a few tries and it may require going outside away from distractions. Don’t numb your feelings or your sensitivity with alcohol or anything else…go into your soft spot and hang out there. You will find what you are looking for- peace. It will fulfill you and it will make you feel loved. Then the busyness of life, will be more joyful because you are a conscious being aware and awake and genuinely just being you. Welcome back to yourself, we have been waiting.
Close your eyes, breathe deep. Really, really, really deep. Feel your breath going down the back of your throat, feel your chest rise and your belly grow. Breathe. Repeat however long it takes until you feel yourself soften, relax, and let go. And if your mind will not quiet down, that’s ok, just go back to focusing on your breath. Allow yourself to have this time to connect. Bring your awareness to your heart. Feel the breath flowing there and circling around like a spiral around your heart. How do you feel? Is there tension, separateness, awkwardness, nothing? Is there warmth, familiarity, excitement, peace? No judgment -just feel. Ask your heart, “what do I need right now? What can I do for you?“ Did you get an answer? The first thing that comes to mind honor it. If you got anything that felt negative or seemed to shout or was loud, that’s your ego voice, not your intuition. Go back into the space and ask again. It will feel gentle, positive, loving and encouraging –that’s your intuitive voice. Follow that guidance step by step and see how life takes you to the moments that take your breath away.
