“Would it be possible to provide free healthcare to the working uninsured and medically under-served populations of Walton and Okaloosa counties?” That is the question that founded the Hope Medical Clinic, and the answer was yes. Opening their doors in 2009, the Hope Medical Clinic has helped countless patients in need. The Hope Clinic knows that healthcare can be expensive and complicated, even for those who have insurance. For those who don’t have insurance, healthcare can be the difference between a productive and healthy life, or possible suffering from treatable diseases.
The Hope Medical Clinic works in partnership with the community to provide free and quality healthcare for “the working uninsured and medically underserved residents of Okaloosa and Walton counties.” Because of this relationship, the Clinic is a non-profit organization, and receives funding from donations and uses volunteers to assist in keeping the place up and running. All donations are welcomed, and will be used to serve members and families of the community – our neighbors and friends.
The Hope Medical Clinic also believes that being healthy isn’t defined as “just the absence of disease,” but as addressing all the needs of the patient – physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Aside from physical, mental, and emotional health, the Hope Medical Clinic cares deeply about spiritual health. The Destiny Worship Center has been kind enough to donate something worth more than money – space. The Destiny Worship Center has allowed the Hope Medical Clinic to move into an office and start providing for the members in the Freeport area.
HMC would like to recognize those who take part in keeping our community a healthy place. Our volunteer providers, the physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and licensed mental health counselors utilize and donate their time to provide for their patients, as their schedules permit. Volunteer nurses take vital signs, do documentation, and address patient conditions as needed. Our clinic volunteers run the lab machines and equipment, and electronically enter patient data into the electronic medical records system. The Clinic would also like to recognize the donors who help keep the doors open, the state of Florida, Sacred Heart Hospital, the Caduceus Society on the Emerald Coast, The Destin Charity Wine Auction, and Direct Relief International.
