In 2019, our staff established a software implementation team with representatives from Community Development, Code Compliance, Public Services, Information Technology and Finance departments. The goal was to collaborate and find an innovative solution to improve organizational efficiency in permitting, review, inspection, code compliance and financial processes. That goal has now become a reality. The City of Destin is now moving forward in implementing a new municipal software solution – Energov, of Tyler Technologies, Inc. Deputy City Manager Webb Warren stated, “Our staff is working hard to streamline our permitting, plan review, inspection and code processes as well as find the best ways we can serve our residents, businesses and visitors.”
Energov Implementation Consultant Paul Prunty says, “It really has been a pleasure working with the City of Destin staff this first week. There is a lot of excitement for this project at all levels. Most especially the enthusiasm of City Manager Lance Johnson, Deputy City Manager Webb Warren and all department directors has really seemed to foster a positive attitude from everyone I’ve worked with so far. Everyone is very excited to have a new tool that will help them serve the City of Destin better, more efficiently, and improve their communication with the citizens of Destin.” This will be a year-long process and the closing of Community Development on Fridays was approved by the city council to allow staff to begin implementation of the new processes with Energov.
