Most of you will see this paper before Nov. 8, so I want to remind you to get out and vote for mayor, Rodney Braden or Bobby Wagner. Their campaign speech videos are on the home page of Destinites.com or in our private locals Facebook group at Facebook.com/groups/Destinites, in the featured section.
I have heard more of the same complaints regarding outrageous homeowners insurance premium increases. Many have complained their cost went up from $3,000 to $11,000 annually. Below are some suggestions made by members to help decrease your premium.
1. Reach out to a company or agent who will help you find the most coverage for the best premium. A broker will do that research for you.
2. Updates on your house, such as a new roof, would help. You may consider getting a Galvalume roof, since it has a lifetime warranty. It is a metal standing seam roof.
3. Getting a new wind mitigation could help lower premiums a lot.
4. Better insulated windows. Hurricane proofing.
On a brighter note, happy Thanksgiving to all! You can always find something to be thankful for, no matter what is taking place in your life. Attitude is everything and it is a choice. You can be thankful and happy or bitter and angry. Be aware of it every morning before your feet hit the floor.
