Maybe I should actually title this article “Getting People Connected.” If you are looking for a job or volunteer work in Destin or the surrounding area or if you have a job or volunteer opportunity to offer, you should post it in our Destinites local Facebook group at www.Facebook.com/groups/Destinites. We have almost 6000 members now. 85% are full time residents of our area and we add new local members daily. (The other 15% are out of state property owners; some of whom live here part time.)
Every Monday morning at 8:30 a.m., I place a post titled “Monday Morning Job Report. You may list your job offer in the thread of that post every Monday, as needed. You must list the name of the company, describe the job and give contact info because transparency is a must for the safety of our community. I have been placing these posts for a long time. Though many businesses are still hurting for employees, according to the positive feedback I have received, these job postings are helping. Give it a try if you have a hiring need.
Every Wednesday at 9 a.m., I place a post titled “Volunteer Opportunities.” This is where organizations, non-profits, charities or other community related groups may reply describing what volunteer opportunity they have to offer. This is something new I just recently started, but it is already helping. You might also find beach clean-up groups posting, in the thread under this post, letting us know their schedules.
Volunteering is a great way to meet other locals and do something good for your community at the same time. Give your life some extra meaning and purpose by reaching out to help others. You are so very much needed!
