In our Facebook group this month (www.Facebook.com/groups/Destinites), I asked members what new business they would like to see come to Destin or the surrounding area. I suggested an indoor golf course like the one they are about to open in the Nashville area (citygolfusa.net). It would certainly take a lot of acreage, but “if you build it, they will come.”
Here are some other ideas from our group of locals:
1. Fully stocked Caribbean food market
- Costco
- A concert venue with monthly/bi monthly shows like the wharf in orange beach.
4. Minor league baseball. - Something like Top Golf or similar.
- Trader Joe’s.
7. I would love to see the Destin Fishing Museum get bigger. I love the interactive stuff that they have out at the Pensacola aviation museum now. I would love to see that at the Destin Fishing Museum if it ever gets bigger. Maybe interactive reels with different types of fish on the line and what it would feel like to try to get them in. Maybe virtual stories of different hurricanes or fishing boats from captains. - A safe place for dogs to swim indoors year-round.
- Sprouts Farmers Market – the closest one is in Tampa.
- Indoor family funplex, children’s museum, food hall with green space for different activities.
