In the Destinites Facebook group this past month, there was some chat about the speed bump on the Destin Bridge (www.Facebook.com/groups/Destinites). The bump is being used to protect a section of joints which were recently repaired. One post received some pretty humorous replies which were too funny not to share. This group sure can show its sense of humor! If you reside in or around the Destin area, I invite you to join our 8800+ local residents/property owners and anyone can sign up for our newsletter at www.Destinites.com.

Here is the original post by one of our members:
“I don’t know why everybody slows down to a complete stop on Destin bridge because of that bump. If you hit it at 45 miles an hour or over, you don’t even feel it at all. I drive a Toyota Corolla! I do it every chance I get—trust me it works just fine.”

Here are just some of the 59 replies:
“There is a rumor that if you hit the bump at 88 mph you travel back in time to pre-tourist Destin.”
“Heard if you go over 75mph you not only don’t feel it you don’t see it either.”
“I don’t feel like replacing my suspension.”
“That’s the point of suspension!”
“Also, the speed limit over the bridge is 35 mph.”
“35 mph?…” That my friend is a suggestion. lol”
“I’m assembling a team.” (Inserted was animated scary looking ninja warrior.)
“When that rim flies off your tire I want you to post that too.”
“My car sits about two inches off the ground, if I cross that bump any faster than 2 mph I bottom out.”
“Why is it only two? Is it a go cart?”
“I jumped it in the Destin Party Bus earlier. Barely budged it. lol”
“Come on man, I gotta slow down or I will damage my suspension! (just kidding, unless you’re driving an F1 car, there is no excuse to slow down for that micro bump, lol.”
“Well, it could be the people are slowing down to see if they can spot Luke Bryan or Toby Keith out on a boat on Crab Island.”

Take care everybody and be patient with those who do want to slow down for—THE BUMP!
Happy Thanksgiving!
