Arthritis Is A Pain

There are several types of arthritis: Osteo, Rheumatoid, Lupus Erythematosus, Gout, Infectious and Reactive, and Psoriatic. The American Arthritis Foundation shows 58.5 million Americans suffer with this disease and annual costs for medical care and lost earnings is $303.5 billion.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease and affects the hands, feet, knees, hips and spine. Oxidative stress is a pathological process that leads to osteoarthritis. Wear and tear over the years or traumatic injury generates oxidative stress/damage which in turn creates excessive inflammation which spirals to even more oxidative damage. This is why once present, the disease accelerates without treatment.

Antioxidants become the most effective antidote for further progression of the disease. A high quality, full spectrum, pure supplement can be more effective than prescribed medications (which are prescribed to treat “symptoms”) without any side effects (This statement is not intended to be medical advice and was extrapolated from a scientific article.).

Rheumatoid arthritis is a type of autoimmune disease in which the body attacks healthy joint tissue. It is characterized by auto-antibodies created against the specific proteins in the connective tissues in and around the joints. The immune response causes high levels of inflammation, swelling, pain, damage, scarring and distortion to affected joints. Symptoms include morning stiffness and joint pain, typically in the same joints on both sides of the body. This disease can also affect the heart, lungs, eyes and skin.

Psoriatic arthritis is the result of chronic inflammation where an overactive immune system attacks the joints and skin. It can include either or both plaque or nail psoriasis. It varies in severity, from mild to crippling.

Essential oils can aid in relieving symptoms of arthritis. Some curb inflammation or have numbing effects. Others can interrupt pain receptors in the brain and others work in a combination of ways. Some of these oils are eucalyptus oil, ginger oil, curcumin, copaiba oil mix, orange oil and lavender oil mix. Be sure to choose a pure oil (no additives such as alcohol) and ones that are stored in dark containers. Oils can degrade in strength when exposed to light. Always talk to a knowledgeable oils expert before using.

As mentioned above, a high quality, full-spectrum pure supplement can be effective as well. Nourishing the body with the minerals, micronutrients and antioxidants that it needs to combat inflammation can make a noticeable difference in the quality of life when living with arthritis.
