A Destin-based company has earned national recognition as part of a special initiative celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM), known for its annual Made in America Holiday Gift Guide featured on CBS Sunday Morning, has selected Destin’s Sunrise Chair Co. for its American-Made 250 Showcase, an online collection highlighting makers from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The showcase celebrates American-made products and the workers whose craftsmanship continues to strengthen the nation.
“There is no better way to celebrate 250 years of American history than with products that are actually made here,” said AAM President Scott Paul. “The American-Made 250 Showcase tells the story of the workers and makers who are building this country. Every time we choose to buy an American-made good, we’re investing in our nation’s next 250 years. A strong domestic manufacturing base is essential if we want the United States to continue to lead the world and ensure that the American Dream is within reach for generations to come.”

Founded by Brad McDowell, Sunrise Chair Co. was born after more than a decade working in the beach chair industry. McDowell set out to create a beach chair focused on quality, comfort and durability. Today, Sunrise Chair Co.’s products are featured at high-end beach resorts across the country and are also available for retail purchase, allowing customers to bring a piece of the Emerald Coast home with them.
The American-Made 250 Showcase comes as consumer demand for American-made products continues to grow. According to AAM, 81% of Americans say they are as likely or more likely to purchase American-made goods, while 83% say they would buy more products made in the USA if they were more readily available.
The showcase aims to connect consumers with American manufacturers and the quality, craftsmanship and jobs supported by buying domestic products.
