Football season is here—Check out the local top spots to eat, cheer and high-five your way through the games.

October is an early benchmark month in the college football world. We have a sense of where our beloved teams stand and, yet, we still aren’t really quite sure just how the rest of the season will play out. So, let’s take a look at the AP rankings as of today (October, 1st). Who might be  overrated, who may be getting overlooked? It’s a dance we do every year. When I look at the top 20 today, I can’t help but to feel for a handful of teams. Missouri is a prime example. They are 5-0 yet they have barely cracked the top 20 sitting at #19. Georgia Tech, too, 5-0 gets them the lofty rank of #17. Vanderbilt, same thing, 5-0 ranked #16. These teams need to dig in, stay focused and keep winning if they ever expect to get to the promised land. Then there’s the perennial powerhouses; teams with their lofty positions in the rankings, although already having suffered a loss this year. Penn State, Texas, Alabama, Georgia and LSU to name a few, and yet they sit somewhere between #7 and #13. With the expanded playoff system we have in place now, it’s still anyone’s ballgame, at least for another month or so. As diehard football fans, we don’t give up on our team. We fight with them, cheer for them and watch every weekend hopeful that maybe this year is our year. It’s exhilarating to say the least.

And here along the Emerald Coast, we are truly blessed. Some of the best sports bars and restaurants anywhere are ready to welcome us in, serve up great food and cold drinks, and make every game feel like a championship. Here are a few of my favorites. So, grab your crew, claim your spot and get in on the action—I’ll see you there!
