This is the 7th award we are giving out. Each month we include a story from someone who has worked alongside Gabby, so you can see the kind of impact he had and continues to have in our community! “Gabby was one of our radio broadcasting brothers and a familiar voice of several commercials in our area for many years,” says Diamond Dan, News Talk 1260/WFTW, Morning Show Host. “He was the epitome of a community-involved citizen, from the MC of the Mullet Festival for decades to a welcoming smile and handshake at various Chambers of Commerce events. He supported local charities; Gabby was everywhere and never met a stranger.”
The awards we are giving out are based on nominations through our commercials on Cumulus Radio. The organizations can be big or small who make an impact by their generosity and personifies Gabby’s giving back to our community.
We are honored to announce the next winner of the “Gabby Bruce You Make a Difference” award. The award goes to The Boathouse Oyster Bar in Destin. The award was presented by Debbie Bruce, President of A2Z, on November 10th to the owner, Missy and Amber, the Marketing Coordinator. The Boathouse gives back to the community in many ways. Some of the events they hold are Locals on the Harbor benefiting the Emerald Coast Foundation and Children in Crisis. In November they had their Slacker event with a Food Drive and Angel Tree which benefits Road Dogg Rescue and Food for Thought.
The Boathouse Oyster Bar is one of Destin’s best kept secrets for over 30 years. Let’s not keep it a secret anymore!
