Self-Care Corner: It’s Peel Season!

Fall is here, and while we may not see dramatic changes in the leaves along the Emerald Coast, our skin definitely knows summer is over! Months of sunshine, heat, humidity, sunscreen and outdoor fun can leave skin looking dull, uneven or simply ready for a refresh.

That’s one reason fall is known as “peel season”—and one of the treatments I’m excited about is BioRePeelCl3, an Italian-developed professional peel designed to improve the appearance and texture of the skin with minimal downtime.

When people hear “chemical peel,” they sometimes picture days of redness, heavy peeling and hiding at home. BioRePeelCl3 takes a different approach. Its biphasic formula contains trichloroacetic acid (TCA), along with amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants, and is designed to encourage skin renewal without the aggressive visible peeling associated with some traditional peels.

The treatment itself takes approximately 15 minutes and is needle-free. While individual experiences vary, downtime is generally minimal, although some people may experience temporary light flaking as the skin renews.

What can it help with?

BioRePeelCl3 may be used to address concerns such as sun damage and photoaging, hyperpigmentation, melasma, acne and acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven texture and signs of aging. It can also be used simply as a glow treatment when your skin needs a little pick-me-up.

And BioRePeelCl3 isn’t just for the face. There are two formulations with different treatment areas:

  • BioRePeelCl3 Blue is a 30% modulated TCA formulation designed for the face, neck and décolleté.
  • BioRePeelCl3 Gold is a 50% modulated TCA formulation intended for areas of the body, including the hands, elbows, knees, feet and buttocks.

Although you may notice a brighter, smoother appearance after one treatment, a series is typically recommended for more significant concerns. The suggested protocol is four to six treatments spaced seven to 14 days apart, depending on your skin and your goals.

One thing I particularly like is that BioRePeelCl3 can be incorporated into a broader skin care plan rather than being treated as a one-size-fits-all solution. A professional consultation can help determine which treatment—and which formulation—is appropriate for you.

As we trade beach days for cooler weather and start looking ahead to holiday parties, family photos and special gatherings, this is a wonderful time to give some attention back to the skin that carried you through another Emerald Coast summer.

After all, self-care sometimes means shedding a little of the old and making room for something fresh. And what better season for that than fall?
