~Josette of 30A Songwriter Radio

Max McCann is a powerhouse of musical talent. This South Walton local has been performing and touring for over 20 years. He has shared the stage with The Rippingtons, Peter White, Jerry Garcia’s Band, ELO, WAR, Ziggy Marley, Bad Company and more. McCann has played across the United States as well as Amsterdam, Germany, and some of the largest festivals in Europe. Max has also played our very own 30A Songwriters Festival for 5 years.

At the age of ten Max began writing songs on his Mom’s old and rusted acoustic guitar. Feeling his passion for music growing, he stole his brother’s electric guitar at age 12. By the age of 17, his passion was taking on a life of it’s own, and Max hitched a ride from Pennsylvania to California. After graduating from The Musician’s Institute (GIT) in Hollywood California, his is next stop was a day trip to Key West that lasted over ten years. Max McCann has been writing, recording, and performing around the world ever since.

While Max McCann’s musical abilities span many genres, it’s the streets of Key West and Mallory Square that have taken root in his writing and style of music which is described as ‘Beach Mountain Blues’.

  • “ I also like that a song can be written without words, it doesn’t have to be about anything. You can use your own imagination or feeling” – Max McCann
  • “Funk Jazz and mild insanity” ~The Scallywag London
  • ”Max is one of the most heart felt guitarists I’ve ever heard, man my boy can play!” ~Jimmy Johnson, blues legend
