SEASONAL HAPPENINGS AT TOPSAIL HILL PRESERVE STATE PARK

NOVEMBER 4TH MOONLIGHT PADDLE

 

The popular “Moonlight Paddle” will be held November 4, 2017 from 5:30p.m. – 8:00p.m. Experience Campbell Lake on a Ranger guided paddling tour.  Participants must be experienced canoers/kayakers over 12 yrs old. Program is $40 per person.  Space is limited.  Advanced online registration is required and can be done at www.topsailparkfriends.org.   Program fee includes watercraft rental, PFD, paddle, park admission fee, glow sticks, tram ride to Campbell Lake and a donation to the Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.  Program is weather dependent.  In order to prevent the introduction of invasive species in to Campbell Lake, which is a rare Coastal Dune Lake, watercraft and gear from outside the park is not allowed.

 

NOVEMBER 4TH HAZ MAT RECYCLING & TIRE AMNESTY DAY

 

Topsail will host a Haz Mat Recycling and Waste Tire Amnesty collection on November 4, 2017 from 8:00am to noon. 

Representatives from the Walton County Solid Waste and Recycling office will be on hand to help unload the following items from your car: Pesticides, Used Oil, Stale Gasoline, Solvents, Fertilizers, Paint, Paint Thinners, Paint Strippers, Batteries, Furniture Polish, Brake Fluid, Engine Degreasers, Anti-Freeze, Pool Chemicals, Insecticides and Spot Removers. No gas cylinders or explosives, please.  Due to hazardous nature of certain components in home computers old computer hardware including processors, monitors, keyboards, printers, scanners, etc will also be accepted.

Waste tire amnesty will also be held at the same time. Walton county residents may bring up to 12 tires per residence.


NOVEMBER 11TH  ANNUAL VETERANS DAY EVENT

State Park will honor Veterans: Past, Present and Future

 

Topsail will host  “Honoring Veterans: Past, Present and Future” on November 11, 2017 from 8:30am to Noon.  The program will celebrate Veterans Day with programs, exhibits and activities honoring the connection between the park, the Florida panhandle and local military history.  The festivities will kick off with an opening flag ceremony, vintage airplane flyover and Breakfast with a Ranger sponsored in part by the Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Hardee’s and Starbucks.  There will also be a Civil War living history exhibit on site as well as a Kids Korner with fun activities.  Coffeen Nature Preserve will be presenting its “Bombs Away” program.  A closing flag ceremony and mini parade through the campground of golf carts, bikes, strollers, pets and you will end the festivities.  Sign up for tours at Coffeen Nature Preserve after the event will also be available.  Admission is free during the event. DECEMBER 2ND COMMUNITY CAMPFIRE 

A fun night of songs, stories and s’mores

 

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a good ol’ community campfire on December 2, 2017 from 5:30p.m. – 7:30p.m.  There will be s’mores, sing – a – long songs by students from Ohana Institute, hot chocolate, stories by the Bay Storytellers and lots of fun! Provisions provided.  Be sure to arrive before the gates close at 7pm.  Event is free with regular park admission.
